Felt like pointing everyone to a few indie animations that are floating around that you might like and want to support through their merch or Patreon. The best I can do to show my support is to watch them as frequently as possible, as well as spread as much awareness of the projects as I can. Small note, several of these are very small time, which you will see with how the voice acting and to an extent the animation turned out. Which is very forgivable given many of them aren't capable of rounding up a small animation studio and doing the best with what they can do. Which I can see with the amount of passion that these people put into their projects. And if you can't support them financially, then make sure to spread the word and rewatch them as many times as you want to give them the views.

Necro-Nancy 64

I really love this animation just for how intentionally dated everything looks in this. Which makes it feel very genuine. Like this could have been an actual game on the Nintendo 64. Or at the very least a CGI cartoon that was made to look the way it did because of the limitations of CGI during the 90s/early 2000s. I like that the main character, Nancy is the opposite of what a goth girl is expected to act like. Making her feel more like Lydia in the Beetlejuice cartoon.

Port by The Sea

This is a very charming and nice little show that I hope gets more episodes made. The plot has a great amount of potential on what our main characters will face. I'm liking that the world is casually introduced to us, with the seaside town being inhabited by a mixture of human and animal people. As well as give us a taste of what kind of sea monsters that can be lurking around what with Imps being goblin size fish people. Showing that fish are the major exception to the anthropomorphic animal rule. If not, any creature connected to the sea given the seagulls. Also, favorite character is the grave keeper.

Hell to Pay

While just an animatic, it has a very charming cast of characters to follow and a very fun and wild interpretation of Hell. Naturally one cannot but help to compare this to Viv's Hellaverse given how sinners become demons. But there is plenty of differences that help make it stand out. I also really like how the pilot takes its time to give a neutral stance on the religion and point out that the bad members shouldn't be viewed as true Christians. The creator plans to make this into a web comic on Webtoons. Which I look forward to and recommend checking out her channel to see the update video for more details.

Madtown

This is a simple, yet fun idea. A guy just casually asks Death to get a girl to like him. But he makes it very clear he doesn't want to use the love potion route. He wants said girl to fall for him the natural way. Which already makes this guy very likable in the long term. I also really like that Death, Charles in this series, proves to be a bit of a complicated guy. Especially by the third episode as he reveals he hates his reputation. I'm also getting vibes that the girl that Mark is crushing on hard is not all pickles and rainbows as she appears. Which is a good thing to me, because it can be showing that you should never idolize your crushes. Also, you can find the creator here on DA, as they post some artwork for the show and gives updates on when a new episode comes out.

Hellion

Another one that is more animatic than animated. But still a very enjoyable watch. I'm really liking the art style here. Has a very geometric early 2000's show look to it. Like I can see this being aired on Cartoon Network back in the day. Joan and Norman are what I want more off in duo protagonists. Polar Opposites that act as foils with one another in how they get things done. Learning that they need to work together and combine their strengths to overcome their weaknesses. And while we are getting an obvious character arc for Joan and her father, who is their instructor, I feel like Norman has some mystery to him. Specifically, because of how he has a tail and lacking a nose. Making me think he might be a Hellion. Enhanced by how we see his fully colored model in the ending credits.

Project Parasomnia

Another animation that has a focus on the paranormal. I am super glad that I am not the only one who really, really loves the supernatural (^^). I hope to see the pilot in the future, because I see a lot of potential in this. Then again, I love anything that features the supernatural, so there is a lot of bias on my end. Regardless, I highly recommend showing support to this and giving it a chance to shine. As this explores the idea of fighting people's phobias in a manner similar to Psychonauts. With the key difference being there is a danger of those nightmares leaking into the real world. Also, it is a webcomic, so go check the channel out for more details.

The Earth Guy

Small note, this was animated by one guy. Mad respect right there, and already has a second episode. The way the main character ends up going to an intergalactic collage is absolutely hilarious. Makes me think of the Crash Nebula pilot Nick disguised as a special. I really feel for the main character as he tries his best to survive the situation he is in. I hope to see episodes that focus on the supporting cast, because I can see each of them being a fan favorite. Especially the sapient black hole girl.

Hullabaloo (Creator has forbad playback on other sites, which I respect.)

Hullabaloo: Episode 1 'The Great Race' (youtube.com)

A steampunk themed project that I am very happy to see. Because the closest we had another one was the rejected Nick pilot, The Modifiers. The art style has this classic Disney charm to it that I love. The man character is also very cool and fun to watch. The designs for the steampunk cars are just plain beautiful. As far as I can tell this is going to be purely episodic. Something I feel needs to be done more with indie animation. I do love a good story arc that spans over a season or two. But I also feel that episodic shows have become a lost art, especially in animation.

Mechwest

A Western that includes robots/mechs powered by coal. Once more loving this concept, as right away we see a very well-developed world. All of the Mechs featured are really cute and really reflects what is typical in robot fiction. Mechs are treated like dirt as they were made to do all of the menial tasks that no one wants to do. Such as the horse patty scooper, that Mech deserves so much respect. As do all of the mechs, for you can really feel the people take them for granted. Having mechanical cattle serve as postal delivery is a very creative touch, enhanced by how coal is treated more valuable than water since it is what powers all Mechs. And those cattle take a lot of coal to burn to make the drive. Makes one want to support a robot revolution, especially when 6 has something very special to him that shows the advancement of tech.

My fan interpretation of TMNT is finally complete. It took much longer than I was hoping for it to do. But I'm just glad it is complete. But now that leaves the question to a lot of my friends and watchers here:

What am I going to do next?

Well firstly I should point out that I had to break both my posting schedule and order of when each character was drawn in order to get them all out. So, for a few more days I will be returning to my original habit of posting new drawings on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I say shortly because October is getting close, and I have a month-long posting string of drawings for Halloween. After that, I will be at my original posting habits for the rest of November. I'm not sure if I will be doing a Lego Advent Calendar this year given how late it is. But there is still time to get one.

But I think the real question is what will be my next big interpretation project. Well, that is hard to say given all of what caused my TMNT interpretation to stretch out for several years. But I did at one point made a poll to see what everyone wanted me to draw next. It was made three years ago, but the people have spoken. Plus, I have actually gotten in the mood to draw more DC characters because of events at WB, as well as collecting trade collections of comics like Kingdom Come and Knightfall. So yeah, expect more DC comics characters from me. But not as this big project because there are so many characters,

I will also occasionally draw something, or post something, different to make sure I don't face burn out as often I did with my TMNT project. So that is what to expect from me in the coming rest of the year and next year.

Month of TMNT

2 min read

This coming August is going to be a TMNT one. As I am going to be posting nothing but my own personal interpretation of several TMNT characters for the entire month of August. I'm going to be doing it for two reasons.

Firstly, is the upcoming TMNT Mutant Mayhem film. So, I figured I should post just TMNT characters. To answer anyone questioning if I will do my own interpretation of the film's main antagonist, Super Fly. I will have to wait and actually see the film itself. As I am 75% sure that he is just Baxter Stockman's mutant form with a new name.

Secondly, I made it my New Year's resolution to finish my fan interpretation of TMNT. Thus, I have been grinding through my list of TMNT characters I wanted to do in my own interpretation. Emphasize on grinding, as I spent a majority of the summer to whittle my way through my TMNT character list. Because of how many characters I included, I will be breaking my own posting habits to get them all out before the end of the year. Will leak into September based on the number of characters I've drawn. Get ready to see characters that are very well known. As well as characters that will make you go, "who?".

So Netflix is making a cartoon series based on Usagi Yojimbo. AWESOME!

However, I first must address something:

Despite him being well known in the TMNT franchise, Miyamoto Usagi and any characters associated with him, are not members of the TMNT franchise. Though much like TMNT, Usagi started out as his own independent comic book, Usagi Yojimbo, and created by Stan Saki. Because Liard and Eastman, the creators of TMNT, love Saki's book, the two independent comics would crossover a lot. As a result, Usagi gets numerous guest star appearances in TMNT media. Such as the cartoon adaptations, which have overshadowed the fact Usagi is actually a reoccurring guest star. And if mislead by many to be a TMNT character.

This however, will be Usagi's first ever animated appearance where he is the star. Or at least, his descendent. Along with characters that are most likely descendants of Miyamoto's friends, as one of them is a rhino named Gen. Which means this show seems to be based on or inspired by the spin off series, Space Usagi.

Overall, I am excited to see this!

Just want to say thank to everyone that has already wished me a happy birthday. And also, to everyone that I am proud to call friends on here. Thank you all for making me feel glad to have been born. As well as being there when tough times did hit me. So once more, thank you.
